Dallas Has a New Event Venue!

I can't tell you how excited I am that Dallas has a new event venue due to open within the next couple of weeks, The Room on Main! Walk into The Room on Main and you will discover a room that has captured the spirit of Downtown Dallas: timeless, sophisticated and elegant; a canvas where dreams can be created. The beautifully restored historic ballroom has natural wood floors, antique chandeliers, and 22-foot ceilings with 15-foot windows on three sides for great views. This 6,000 square foot ballroom will accommodate up to 300 people and is the perfect facility for wedding receptions, celebrations, or corporate events. More details and pictures to come.

Veterans Day 2010

Remembering our Veterans today and thankful for all they have done. I especially thank my grandfather, a Veteran of WWII, my father, a Vietnam Vet, and my brother in law, a Vet of Desert Storm.

Hottest Wedding Trend for Fall/Winter 2010

National Donut Day! Free Donuts?

I'm crazy about donuts! Love them and could eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks!  I had to share that tomorrow is National Donut Day and to celebrate, Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and Shipley Do-Nuts are giving away FREE donuts!  Love that!

A little history on this: National Doughnut Day is not a creation of the snack-food industry but actually started in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army. It was the women of that organization who started America's complicated love affair with the doughnut during World War I. As part of their effort to bring a little bit of home to U.S. troops in France, the Salvation Army served coffee and doughnuts. We couldn't confirm that they actually fried the doughnuts in metal helmets, but it makes a nice story. Here's the recipe they used.
